Status Update: Issue #3 and other projects

Hello again everyone! I just wanted to touch base with you on the current state of Rubicon Comics and the Isidora series.

Item #1 - Accessory Collections!

As I have stated in my previous updates, I am in a holding pattern until a current financial crunch passes and I have expendable income to invest. In an attempt to drum up some capital for Issue #3 I have launched a new sticker line based on the Anime Issue #1 print by Redleaf of Isidora. The stickers, called the Cute Cthulhu Collection, are 3x3 die-cut stickers of the adorable Lovecraftian monsters in plushie form from the print. They are available now on my streamlabs store! Other Cute Cthulhu Projects:

• I am also developing a possible NFT collection of these, starting with variations of Cthulhu. I am new to the whole NFT thing. it is a lot to take in and I am learning. I have created the NFTs but I am not pulling the trigger on it yet seeing I do not know if they will be viable with my current social media reach and following. But it is an idea.
• I am researching physical plushie development for these as well, but I am finding it takes a significant investment to make the prototypes so development may take some time. The plan is to include them in the Issue #3 campaign, but I would like to have some samples in hand before it begins, which also add to the startup costs for the next campaign.

Projections:

I would like to launch the Issue #3 campaign by summer 2022 but it is unclear as of yet if that will be possible. I am trying my hardest to do this as soon as I can to get things moving. Purchasing the stickers if you want and can, along with telling your friends and sharing on social media helps a lot in that department.

Hey everyone! Hope your first month into 2022 is a good one. I am SO HAPPY to see that everyone has gotten their Isidora #2 packages and the responses have been wonderful. There are still 2 Australia packages I have been unable to ship due to USPS Australia shipping being STILL suspended due to Covid concerns. Those will go out as soon as it is allowed.

As for issue #3...

I have had the script written for a while now and it would be easy to launch a campaign immediately. However...

Almost  2 years of unemployment waiting on my Disability hearing (taking so long because of, you guessed it, Covid) have finally depleted our savings. My expendable/investible cash is gone. Over the last 2 campaigns for Isidora and I have always strived for excellence, quality, and value for your dollars. This means that just about every penny of the funded campaigns goes directly into the value of it, leaving me with no profit on it. I was and still am fine with this. I look forward to the campaigns growing (which they have) and my goal is to hit a 10K campaign which will finally allow some profit (money invested to start the next book at least) without me dipping into my pocket to start the next issue.

Alper and Sercan are amazing and dedicated to this IP and are willing to get paid from the proceeds. However, I still have to pay cover artists, addon/stretch goal artists, my editor, as well as the customary marketing to grow each campaign beyond my returning customers. 

Isidora will not die or fade away. I just currently cannot afford the upfront funds required to run the campaign the way I ALWAYS have. I could easily skimp and throw out something for issue #3 but I am not going backward in terms of what I deliver which is leaps and bounds ahead of other creators who bring in way more than Isidora, some in the 6 figures. 

I will keep you abreast of the situation of when I will be able to start up issue #3. For now, it is just on pause until our financial situation is healthier.

The pics, comments, messages, and vids are starting to roll in as people start getting their Isidora rewards from this campaign! I am so happy it is finally getting into your hands. There are 2 other projects I would to let you know about that I am a backer for that look great:

• First is Cluster Fudge Two by my friends Chris and Diana Tamulevich. I have the last 3 or so of their campaigns. They are great people, diligent workers, and deliver a quality comic quickly and on time. They are about 50% to their incredibly small goal of $500 to produce this comic. • Next is a book I found off of twitter. It is called Scarlet Sova. The gritty art style is something I appreciate and it has the makings of a real good story. I backed this book and so should you!  Scarlet Sova #1 on Kickstarter

I want to thank each and every one of you for being so supportive and generous with your hard-earned dollars to support this campaign and my endeavor to be a comic creator/author. Some of you have been with me with my first campaign for the Souls of Magic's Dawn novel, some with Issue #1 of Isidora, and some new faces with issue #2. All of you are rock stars.

I am sure some of you have already seen it on your doorstep, but ALL BACKER PACKAGES HAVE BEEN MAILED OUT and fulfillment IS COMPLETE! I am so excited for you to get them in your hands and for you tell me what you think. If you can, please tweet out an unboxing vid/pics and @ me at @darthlunga with #Isidora. If you have a channel, an unboxing vid there would be awesome too!

I am hoping to get working on issue #3 soon. Ramifications of a year of covid have kind of run amuck on our personal finances here so I may have to wait a bit before dumping start-up funds into the next campaign but IT WILL HAPPEN.

Post Funding AND FULFILLMENT UPDATE #12!

Did I say delay? Not happening!

Last update I reported that USPS lost the metal cards created by Phoenix Animations which could potentially delay fulfillment. Well with me putting up the money to print new ones while the insurance claim is pending, new cards were created AND delivered by FedEx this past Friday! 

Metal Books also arrived!

In the shuffle of the metal card debacle, I forgot to mention we did get the Metal Books and Chrome prints as well.

So where do we stand? What does this mean?

It means we are now in full-blown fulfillment phase! As you saw last update, Marie and I bagged and boarded all the copies and this past weekend my daughter and I packed all the collector boxes and they are ready to be packed into shipping boxes. This also means I could be putting things in the mail sometime between 10/2-10/8! You'll get these in your hands VERY soon!

Uncompleted Surveys- VERY IMPORTANT!

There are still a handful of uncompleted surveys. Those remaining need to be completed so everyone gets the items they paid for. Without the survey, I do not have a shipping address to send the items. Please complete those as soon as possible so I have all the counts and addresses locked and can begin the fulfillment process and make sure you get the items you paid for. Once I complete fulfillment I will not be printing new shipping labels. DON'T LOSE YOUR REWARDS!

A small few of you did miss the Kickstarter deadline for payment and pledges were dropped.

Kickstarter only collects pledges for one week after the campaign ends and at that point, they drop the pledge. The good news is those who were dropped can still complete their pledge and update their payment information in the Backerkit Survey that was sent a few days ago. I did message each of those backers and in case you are one of these and missed the email or it was sent to spam, I included the direct link for the survey in those messages. Please check your inboxes!

Where are we at

• Issue #2 copies are signed, bagged, boarded ready for packaging.
• All Collector Box orders are packed and ready to be placed in shipping boxes
• This week I will begin packing the smaller Gemini Mailer orders.
